Moving boundaries

For the purpose of studying and shaping the future, global flows, or the movement of objects, people, machines, money, and information is what I spend a lot of time thinking about.

That boundaries can be externalized or shift and leave so-called “ghost borders” in social memory, or be manipulated from a distant capital city adds an extra layer of interest.

The Rio Grande (Río Bravo del Norte in Mexico, or P’osoge in Tewa and Tó Ba’áadi in Navajo) has changed course several times in recorded history, leading to a number of conflicts and uncertainties.

Photographs of The Rio Grande mud (the U.S.-Mexico border) and Chamizal (El Paso, Texas, and Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua).
