Truly Human Technology

Sculptures of light from MIT to Corpus Christi⁣⁣

MIT gave me a new perspective of the social and ecological horizon. I learned that to be angry or unhappy is not enough. To give reality to one's social beliefs and sense of solidarity with fellow men, a disciplined, clear interpretation of the human condition is a must.

I’m giving a series of art talks in the high desert looking at what were, or are, bleeding edge ideas and technique.⁣⁣

For Truly Human Technology I trace the philosophy of artist and educator György Kepes, founder of the Center for Advanced Visual Studies (CAVS) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and make the connection to CAVS Fellow Dale Eldred's 1980 Art Museum of South Texas Exhibition. Eldred was a fellow at the MIT Center for Advanced Visual Studies in 1985 and 1986.

What a pleasure to share with a small group a little about sculpture of light, sun, and mirror banks covering the museum on the Gulf Coast, from where I’ll give the presentation: the Greater Big Bend International Dark Sky Reserve! The largest Dark Sky Certified place in the world. Presentation is in person, salon style, at the office next to St James' on N 6th. Please share if you're so moved to.

Rescheduled dates in October, 2024 are forthcoming!
